My Peptide Story

I did everything right. My body still wouldn't cooperate.

Lifting. Tracking. Clean eating. A functional medicine doctor for over a year. Still stuck, until peptides changed what my biology could actually do. Watch my full story below.

my full story, why I started, and what actually changed

Sound familiar?

"I feel uncomfortable in my clothes."
"I'm lifting harder than ever and my body isn't changing."
"My labs came back normal, but I know something is off."
"I'm exhausted by 3pm no matter how well I sleep."
"Recovery takes twice as long as it used to."

"I am down 8 lbs in 5 weeks and I never thought anything would work for me again. I put on my jeans and I can button them."

Part One

Three years of doing it right, and getting nothing back

I'm an '80s baby, a former athlete, the only girl in the weight room who always did things by the book. Lifting four to five times a week. Tracking every macro. Clean, organic meals. I spent over a year working one on one with a functional medicine doctor. Four months of total perfection got me four pounds, and I lost those in a single week in Italy.

My family kept telling me I was always dieting or restricting, and it was affecting my mental state. That was the moment I knew. It wasn't my discipline. It was my biology.

My labs were a mess. Inflamed, insulin resistant, low in the basics. I'd tried keto, Whole30, carnivore, gluten free, digestive enzymes, hormone protocols. I have the receipts. Nothing was wrong with my effort. Something was wrong with the approach.

Part Two

What actually changed

Once I addressed regulation instead of restriction, giving my body tools it already knows how to use instead of another rule to follow, everything shifted. Not dramatically. Quietly. The kind of quiet where you think "wow, that worked." My sleep started restoring me again. The 3pm wall disappeared. Workouts stopped punishing me and started paying me back.

I spent a decade and $23,000+ learning this the hard way. This page is everything I know, so you don't have to start from zero.

Part Three

GLP-1 was just the beginning

Getting my metabolism regulated gave me my body back. But that turned out to be the doorway, not the destination. Once that foundation was solid, I started exploring a whole world of recovery and healing I never knew existed, and it changed things far beyond anything I'd experienced before. This is the optimization stack I've personally used since.

What Peptides Actually Support

One protocol, working on every layer of you

Peptides aren't one thing for one problem. Once my foundation was in place, this is where the deeper optimization happened, across the body systems that quietly run everything else.

Before You Start

Is this actually for you?

This is probably for you if

  • You're already doing the work (lifting, eating well, sleeping) and your body still isn't responding
  • You've been told your labs are "normal" but you know something is off
  • You want a provider guided, medically supervised path, not a research chemical off the internet
  • You're willing to pair the protocol with real habits, not use it as a replacement for them

This might not be for you if

  • You're looking for an overnight fix with zero lifestyle changes
  • You're not willing to work with a licensed provider through the intake process
  • You're currently pregnant, nursing, or have a personal or family history your provider would flag as a contraindication

Why I Trust This Platform

Why I order through EllieMD

Choosing a supplier is one of the biggest decisions you'll make here. Peptides are short chains of amino acids, they're signaling tools that tell your body what to produce, so what you're putting in your body has to be clean, safe, and genuinely overseen by a doctor. That's the whole reason I chose EllieMD.

503A Licensed Pharmacy

Everything is compounded through a 503A pharmacy using FDA regulated manufacturers, and they're actively moving all peptide manufacturing to the United States.

Triple Filtered / 3rd Party Tested

You get exactly what you actually ordered. Every batch is tested by a third party, and anything that doesn't measure up gets sent back, not shipped to you.

No Research Grade Risk

In a study of research grade peptides, 70% of the product tested wasn't even what it claimed to be, and some carried foreign substances like MDMA and ecstasy. Genuinely scary to think what else could end up in your body from an unregulated foreign supplier.

Doctors Trained in Peptide Therapy

Their providers specialize in this. Every dose is individualized to me based on efficacy and science, not a guess or a one size fits all protocol.

Genuinely Innovating

They're a real leader in the longevity space, not just keeping up. New tools keep rolling out, including a wearable ring to track my diagnostics and an injectable pen designed to make dosing easier and cut down on medical waste.

I Feel Safe Injecting This

That's the bottom line for me. I know the quality of what I'm getting is high, and that matters more to me than saving a few dollars somewhere sketchier.

Questions I get most

If yours isn't here, a provider will answer it during your intake review, or you can talk it through live. Scroll to Expert Consultation below to schedule.

A peptide is a short chain of amino acids, the same building blocks your body uses to make proteins. Because they're smaller and simpler than a full protein, peptides can act as precise signaling molecules, telling specific cells or systems in your body what to do. Your body already makes peptides naturally, therapeutic peptides just work with those same pathways.

GLP-1 is a single hormone pathway that helps regulate appetite and blood sugar. GLP-1/GIP combines that with a second hormone pathway (GIP), giving it a dual action instead of a single one. For a lot of people, the combined GLP-1/GIP approach means a stronger response at a similar dose, though which one is right for you depends on your history and how your body responds, which your provider will help determine.

Protocols start around $100 a month and scale up depending on what your body needs, with more advanced stacks running higher. For reference, most med spas charge well over that for the same compounded medications. Pricing is subject to change, so check current rates during your intake.

Eligibility is decided by the licensed provider, not by me. As a general guide:

  • Standard weight loss dose: BMI 25+, or BMI 22+ if you've been on a GLP-1 in the last 45 days
  • Longevity microdose: BMI 20+

Other peptides each have their own criteria. The provider has the final say.

Yes. Therapeutic peptides require a licensed provider's evaluation and prescription. That's exactly why this process exists, to make that path simple, remote, and rooted in real medical oversight.

Compounded in a 503A licensed pharmacy in the United States, prescribed by board certified providers, and shipped directly to you. This is clinical grade compounding, not research use only material from the internet.

It depends on the protocol and the goal. With GLP-1/GIP, many people feel appetite shifts in the first one to two weeks. With longevity and recovery protocols, meaningful changes show up between weeks four and eight and compound from there. Peptides aren't a seven day fix, they're a foundation.

Many products are FSA/HSA eligible. Insurance coverage varies and is generally limited for compounded medications, but the FSA/HSA path is real and worth checking against your plan during intake.

Yes, that's actually how most thoughtful protocols are designed. I personally run several concurrently. Your provider will help you sequence and stack appropriately based on your goals.

Some peptides work partly by quieting appetite signaling, and when you stop, that signaling returns to baseline. Without the foundational habits in place, regain is common. With a strong foundation of protein, training, and sleep, many people maintain their results long term. Peptides enhance habits, they don't replace them.

Peptides amplify the work you put in, they are not a replacement for protein, sleep, hydration, and movement. The people who get the strongest results pair their protocol with high protein at every meal, strength training two to four times a week, real food, and seven to eight hours of sleep. You don't need to be perfect, you just need to be consistent.

Supplements try to give your body raw materials it might use. Peptides are the actual signaling molecules your body already makes, short chains of amino acids that target one specific pathway with precision. Different category, different mechanism, different level of oversight since a provider is prescribing and monitoring it.

Then your provider will tell you. That's the whole point of going through a real medical pathway instead of ordering research peptides online. Someone qualified is reviewing your history and can honestly say this isn't the right tool for you, and point you toward something that is.

Hair shedding can happen with any rapid weight loss, whether it's from surgery, restrictive diets, postpartum, or a GLP-1. It isn't the medication itself, it's the speed of the change. Most people see normal regrowth as their body adjusts. Protein at every meal, enough iron and B vitamins, and not moving your dose up too fast all help. If it worries you, bring it up with your provider.

You've got a few ways to make it work. Most protocols are FSA/HSA eligible, so you can often use pre tax dollars you already have set aside. Klarna and PayPal Pay in 4 are both available at checkout if you'd rather split it up. And EllieMD offers its own financing option if you want a monthly plan instead of paying quarterly upfront. You'll see all of these at checkout during your intake.

This is available in all 50 states. Specific protocols may have state by state nuances, and your intake will route you to the right provider for your state automatically.
